EXILE

“No matter where we come from, how we look or what language we speak, inside we are all the same and yearn for the same things: that is to feel safe and to be treated with dignity. We all have the same emotions and feelings and only want our families to be safe.”  By Dave. The New Art Studio

There is an island set in the deep blue sea

Around it dark blue waves capped with snow-white foam

Are breaking on the slippery rocks

Crash, they rip and tear away the docks

You open the door against the howl of waves on rocks,

A flock of seagulls wails beneath the tower’s clock

We climb aboard the tiny boat

Which shudders on the roar of angry waves;

I dive into the thundering sea and turn to look for You,

First You disappear into the mist

Then I see You standing tall with raven hair and gleaming eyes

Looking for those who did not perish at sea

From the shore I see your arms outstretched in an embrace

Golden light illuminates the harbour walls

The blue cobalt waves crash and roar beneath the plaque:
“Liberty, Fraternity, Equality for all.”
